Blog post.

Happy Easter to all! He has risen!

I spent an hour yesterday writing my very first Blog. Only to discover today it is not here. Who else has done this? So here I sit again writing my very first Blog. My dilemma is what could I possibly write about that you the reader would enjoy as much as I. Here I am writing a blog about my writing journey, what led me to this point and where am I going from here.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I have writing it. Where did it all begin? But first the photo.

I took this photo at the launch to Silver Springs on one of my first paddle experiences here. What caught my eye was how the road suddenly ends and the water begins. Just like how our lives and pathways do. It made me think about Gods path for us and how sometimes we ignore the pathway he has chosen and the one we choose all of a sudden becomes a "deadend". My writing journey kinda started that way. I knew from a teenager I wanted to write, but didn't know why. Something inside me said "write it down". But I was too afraid, afraid of what others would think about my idea. So what does any teenager or anyone for that matter do? We stuff it inside a drawer hidden so no one can find it. Until it keeps nagging at you to pull it back out. Then I discovered why I had this desire to write a story. It just so happens my mom, Patricia Bradley, had become an author and currently has 19 books published, most or not all are on the Top Sellers List. This is where I got the "bug" I guess. But it didn't happen right away. No, it took another 20 years before I pulled that pile of yellow pad paper out of my drawer and read it again. Then picked up a pen and began adding to it. But soon, my funny, light love and drama became a very dark vision. Which I did not like at all, I wanted to write funny, love, mysteries, but my fingers kept going to the dark side. Not literally the dark side, but to more suspense than funny. I put it away, AGAIN.

Then one day, I had a dream about a young girl, she was funny, she had boy troubles, and life had not gone her way. I began praying about my writing. And God led me down the path to completing a Romantic Comedy, BUT I couldn't carry it further as I began writing a second novel, I suddenly had to 'kill' someone. Again, those dark suspensful moments written on the page stared back at me. I listened, and God said, write it. I told my mom that I had decided to write a Suspense. Oh was she happy. And the words began to flow. It was much easier to write than a romantic comedy, as I found the suspense kept me going.

Why do I tell you about the first path I took? Because it was not the path God wanted me to take, he wanted me to write that Suspense, tell how my Main Characters conflict with God had pushed her away until she meets her high school sweetheart after 10 years. How he convinces her it was not God who betrayed her, it was someone else. God put her on the path she is on now so that she could find him again. So my writing jouney begins.

I have attended several writers conferences and found my genre, found my people, and found that God has a path for each of us, we just have to trust and listen.

I hope you have found this "first" blog to be interesting and will come back next month to see where I am in my writing Journey. Currently I am revising the first part of my book, because again, I needed some changes which had a domino effect. I can't wait for you to see where the next part takes us. But for now here is a few paragraphs to get you "hooked". Enjoy

The house should have been dark and quiet.

Instead, a red Honda was parked in the drive. The porch light cut through the dark.

Addison Lambert’s shoulders were slumped as she gripped the steering wheel until her knuckles turned white. After a full day on her feet at a tack show in Ocala, all she wanted was a shower, some leftovers, and to talk with her daughter, Rose. She hadn’t been expected home for another two days, but a stable emergency had forced her to cancel her weekend saddle-fitting appointments. Rose would be happy to see her when she picked her up earlier than expected.

William, her stable manager, would have already left for the day, after making sure all the horses were in for the night.

“Ugh, why is she here?”Addison exhaled sharply as she pulled around back.

A tightness formed in her chest. William must’ve let her in before leaving. A prickle crept up her spine as she climbed out of the truck. The air smelled of hay, bonfires and Florida damp, along with something spicy drifting from the open back door.

Now for the Bible verse.

Proverbs 3:5–6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

BOOK REVIEW TIME:

ON THE EDGE OF TRUST

By: Patricia Bradley

Here is the first line from her latest Logan Point Novel

A ding from her phone jerked Jenny Tremont from a sound sleep on her den sofa.

Reviews:

"Exciting Romantic Suspense"

"Love It"

"Thrilling, on the edge of your seat suspense"

Maybe I'm biased, but I agreed with all of these reviews. Here is my take:

This book can be a stand alone. I found it very suspenseful, with constant twist and turns that had you trying to figure out who dun it, all the while quickly turning pages. The suspense is exciting. The characters are very well written and you have no idea who the killer is until the end. Great job!
